Dressed for Battle

I think a lot about how I look. I wish I didn’t, but I do. I spend significant money on wrinkle creams, hair products, sun screen, serums, and make-up. I also love to buy new clothes, shoes and accessories. However, I heard a quote that stopped me in my tracts for a moment.

“You don’t have a soul,you ARE a soul; you have a body.”

I am reminded that this body has an expiration date. It is temporary, but our soul is eternal. Where our soul resides after we die is up to us. Our soul (we) will either go to heaven or hell.

We really need to think less about dressing our "body" and more about dressing our soul daily. If you are a christian, and ESPECIALLY if you are living out God's will to the best of your ability, you can be sure that the devil will attack. There is never a more sure thing than the fact that the devil will attack us when we are on the right track for Jesus. He will use our friends, family and loved ones to attack. Even in the garden, Satan caused Eve to sin and then influence her husband to sin.

Paul told us how to protect ourselves from spiritual attacks by putting on the Armour of God. We need to put on this Armour everyday before we get out of bed. You can't wait until you are in the midst of a spiritual attack and then get dressed for battle, we must always be ready. A soldier in battle would not wait until he was in the middle of an attack before he was dressed for battle, he would be ready. We must be ready.

I can't say it better than Paul did so I am copying Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

I also love that there is only one piece of offensive warfare in God's Armour and it is the sword of the spirit. God says the sword of the spirit is the word of God. There is nothing more powerful than God's word.

I challenge us all to pray to God as soon as our eyes open and mentally put on God's Armour. We must be ready for spiritual battle and to read the bible daily so we know God's voice and direction.

Love you guys!

Have a great week!

Crystal
