Take the Gift!

I have so many blogs in my head and half written on my computer, but I thought it is important to focus on the most important component in the bible. Are you saved? Do you know as sure as there is a tomorrow that you are going to heaven? Everyone lives forever. Some people live forever in hell and some people live forever in heaven. It truly started at the very, very beginning. God went to Adam and Eve and told them if they ate from the apple they would surely die. However, Satan deceived Eve and said, “you will surely not die!” The devil always mixes a little truth with a lie to deceive us.

The truth is, Eve did not die in the Earthly way, but in the Greek translation of the text, the word used in these passages is Zoe. Zoe means “life with God.” We always think from a simple human perspective, but God thinks eternally. He has an entirely different perspective. Our earthly time is a blink of an eye compared to our eternal life. God said Adam and Eve would lose “Zoe” or “life with Christ”. Before eating the apple, Adam and Eve lived with God in the Garden of Eden. There was no sin, shame or guilt. After Adam and Eve ate the apple, sin entered the world. Eve ate first and she did not immediately die, so Adam ate too. However, they did die, die to Zoe. From this point on, a sacrifice had to be made, blood shed, in order to forgive the sin.

God always wants his people to have life with him and always had a plan. It is amazing that He loves us so much. I really don’t understand why he does, but he certainly does. In John 3:16, God says that He sent His son Jesus to the world, the perfect sacrifice, to die for all human sin for all time. God is a just God, so he also clearly says in Romans 6:23 that , “the price of sin is death…eternal death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

All we have to do is accept the gift, and believe and have faith in God that he truly did send His son to die for us. God will make us a new creation inside and we will have a desire to obey him. You can’t work enough to get to heaven. It is a gift. All we have to do is take it.

I have talked to so many people and ask them, are you going to heaven and they will say, “I don’t know.”

I will say, do you believe that God loves you? “yes”

Do you believe God sent His son? “yes”

Do you believe that He died for you and all human kind? “yes”

Do you believe John 3:16 and Romans 6:23? “yes”

Then are you going to heaven? “I don’t know, you don’t know what I have done. Even when I do all these things I still mess us.”

Then I start over with these questions again.

It is not about us. We can’t help God get us into heaven. There is nothing we can do or not do besides just accepting the gift. When we do, God sends us a second gift, the Holy Spirit that will abide in us and help us to live a Christ driven life. Our best life.

If you are reading this, I love you. I hope everyone that reads this has already taken the gift, but if you haven’t. Do it! Stop what you are doing and do it right now! What are you waiting for? There is no special ceremony, class, or place you have to be to have this conversation with God. Stop what you are doing, and talk to God. He is waiting and listening.

The way you talk to God is just by talking out loud or silently in your head. You don’t even have to close your eyes if you don’t want to. God knows all your thoughts. Nobody is too bad to become a Christian. In the bible, God used murderers, adulterers, and prostitutes. God changes their heart and they end up changing the world. They mess up after they are saved, and God helps them through it. When you have this discussion with God, you become His child and no one can grasp you out of His hand again, not even you.
